Monterrey Wheelchair Distribution Trip – Celebrating 20 Years of Service

March 5–10, 2025

From March 5th to 10th, 2025, a group of dedicated Rotarians and volunteers traveled to Monterrey, Mexico, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of a life-changing wheelchair distribution partnership. The trip brought together clubs from across regions in a powerful display of Rotary fellowship and service.

Participants were warmly welcomed by local Rotarians with a festive dinner featuring music and speeches. Over the following days, the group visited impactful community service projects, including a drug rehabilitation center that provides vocational baking training. Smaller teams then spent time with six different Rotary clubs to explore their local initiatives and enjoy fellowship over dinner.

A highlight of the trip was the distribution of more than 200 wheelchairs to individuals and families in need—an event recognized by David Behring as one of the most organized and meaningful he has attended. The experience was capped off with a special evening hosted by Rotary Foundation Trustee Carlos Sandoval, featuring a mariachi performance and generous hospitality.

Travel arrangements and logistics were coordinated with support from Howard Tours, which has long partnered with Rotary on service-focused travel opportunities.

After a final day of relaxation at the Safi Valle Hotel, participants returned home with strengthened connections and renewed inspiration to continue serving communities near and far.
