New Rotary Year Kicks Off with Energy and Inspiration!

The Danville/San Ramon Rotary Club launched its new Rotary year in style with President Julie McKinney leading her first official meeting to a packed house of over 50 members and guests. Julie, inspired by her recent trip to the Rotary International Convention in Calgary, Ontario—along with several fellow club members, Leslie and Gary Vilhauer, Jim Vlantis, Mary Whipple, and Dany Gregory—brought renewed energy and fresh ideas to the meeting.

With enthusiasm, strong attendance, and new traditions already taking shape, President Julie’s year is off to a powerful start. Here’s to a year of service, fellowship, and impact!

Rotarian in the Spotlight

One of the highlights of last week’s meeting was the introduction of a new feature: Rotarian in the Spotlight.

The inaugural spotlight shone on the longest -tenured member and retired veterinarian Glen Weber, who joined Rotary in 1983. Glen shared heartfelt reflections on four decades of service, community connection, and the evolution of Rotary over the years.

Club of the Year Award Announcement at District Awards and Installation!

The Cliff Dochterman Club of the Year award recognizes a club’s well-rounded and consistent achievements. This year, the honor goes to the Rotary Club of Danville San Ramon, which, despite being newly formed from the merger of three clubs just one year ago, has shown remarkable success.

The club earned second place for contributions to the Annual Fund and the Rotary Foundation, supported the District Wheelchair Foundation project for wheelchairs distributed in Monterrey, Mexico and many club members participated in the distribution trip. This year the club also launched a new fundraiser, Night at the Races, and provided strong support at the District Conference.

This outstanding record of service and growth makes the Rotary Club of Danville San Ramon the well-deserved recipient of the District 5160’s 2024 Club of the Year award.
